Core Link Oy manufactures material handling equipment used in paper mills worldwide. Based in Kauhajoki, Finland, the company is part of the Swedish-owned Core Link Group.

The partnership between Escarmat and Core Link began in spring 2024 when Core Link needed UL-certified control and automation cabinets. UL certification, primarily used in the U.S. market, significantly differs from standard European practices.

Escarmat obtained UL certifications to meet customer demands, enabling them to fulfill Core Link’s requirements.

– The first project was a learning process for both sides. However, Escarmat quickly adapted to the new standards and produced the cabinets exactly as we wanted, says Jari Mäki-Reinikka, Buyer at Core Link.

External auditor inspections

The first UL project started with meticulous planning. Escarmat obtained the necessary certifications and trained its staff to comply with UL standards. An external UL auditor inspected the completed cabinets in the presence of Core Link representatives.

– The auditor approved the first cabinets without any issues. I believe this demonstrates the success of the project, Mäki-Reinikka adds.

Since then, the two companies have worked together on numerous projects. These projects have been diverse, involving large cabinets, connection boxes, and console-style cabinets.

Mäki-Reinikka praises the excellent communication between Core Link and Escarmat. Seamless communication has ensured smooth planning and execution, helping to control costs.

–  We’ve communicated exceptionally well, especially regarding procurement. We split purchases based on who can source components more affordably. Such close collaboration requires good project management and compatible working relationships. At no point did we doubt the outcome; we’ve been able to trust Escarmat entirely.

Excellent installation quality

Project schedules depend on multiple stakeholders, and component availability can vary due to global uncertainties. In some cases, components have been installed later at a later stage. Despite these challenges, deadlines have been consistently met.

– One reason we’ve stayed on schedule is Escarmat’s excellent installation work. There’s been no need for complaints in that regard.

Core Link currently has a strong workload, which means continued collaboration with Escarmat in the future. Mäki-Reinikka states he would recommend partnering with Escarmat to others as well.

– Our future looks bright. Our end customers have been satisfied with us, which is the best evidence of successful collaboration.
